"There are not seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million."

- Walt Streightiff

Folktales have a magic and simplicity, a depth and a passion that appeal to people of all ages and nationalities. They have survived so long because of the great enjoyment they give both, in hearing and telling. They are full of action, rhythm, with little description to slow them down. Like this collection of whispers I gathered from children around the world – some are simple, others are full of emotion and feeling, and still others carry a great strand of humor and all of them will last because they carry truth, wisdom, and magic.

I love traveling, and when I travel I like to assign myself a “project” to help me socialize and get involved with the locals. For the past few years my project was to get to know different cultures better through their children. So, I decided to ask the children a few questions that would not be too challenging for them to understand, but would give me some insight into what they were really thinking and feeling. I sat, knelt, or squatted down to meet them eye to eye, heart to heart, and in the course of our conversation asked each child the same three thought-provoking questions:

1. If you had one wish what would it be?
2. Is God fair? Why or why not?
3. Who in the world would you most want to meet?

This collection of quotes contains the hearts and souls of our future. I believe one is never too old, or too young, or too wise to learn from our children.

Representing 15 countries with over 70 pages, this book is filled with the heart, humor, and wisdom of children from around the world. Beautiful color illustrations by Tim Huhn add an enchanting element making this book a wonderful gift for yourself or someone you love.
